A Jam Packed March :)
Life, business and everything in between in the month of March

I love talking about business, freelancing and all things for the betterment of our careers and how to make YOU more money (who doesn’t want that?)
I’d like to take it a step further—offering an inside look into my life as a full-time agency owner and digital nomad, living in Hawaii who frequently travels for gigs.
So, I’m introducing this new monthly business and financial recap into my Substack universe.
In this March recap:
Reworking on the business, not for the business
Don’t overspend on your flights!

Notes from the kitchen table.
Help others, help you -About two weeks ago, I listed a camera on Marketplace. Someone reached out but didn’t end up getting it. However, they asked for assistance connecting to an audio board with their upcoming gig.
We got on a quick call to troubleshoot his question, he offered to pay—but all I really wanted was a review. That, in the long run, helps my business far more than a few dollars.
Is it October? March has been extra ghostly: March was weird, 5 cold/lukewarm leads came in, tuning upwards $20k + and I got ghosted by each and everyone of them.
If you’ve been in this game for 10+ years, you know this happens more often than not. I use Mailtrack to monitor open rates—after two follow-ups, if they’re still opening my emails but not responding, I assume they’ve lost interest or found another vendor and move on.
Notion, yay or nay? I’m semi-new on Notion (about 4 months) but as a excel/sheets nerd, transitioning to Notion is just evolutionary. Notion is ALOT, but Jeff Su, one of my favorite productivity youtubers has a really great & in depth breakdown of using it.
What is life? On the night of the 24th, we had a beach birthday bonfire with friends - on the 25th, I’m in Vegas for a shoot. I’m truly grateful for this life.

and all her wisdom hereMarch Business Happenings:
Built a 2025 + ongoing client database
Restarted tracking my CRM and leads in Notion (details, event $, and more) after neglecting it since 2023.
Booked a last minute Zendesk client on Monday, flew out to Vegas on Tuesday for a Wednesday shoot (life is fun)
Booked an extra last minute previous mainland client coming to Hawaii for a conference.
As a producer, DP & photographer I’m tapping into the UGC space - cause, why not?
Digital Nomady Corner:
Digital Nomadry has been all the rage these days - what is a digital nomad? Well, Jeremie from Beyond Ordinary writes a great article about misconceptions and DN IRL.
As we prep for a few months in Thailand, I’ve been diving back into Facebook and WhatsApp groups to connect with other digital nomads. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people, find affordable stays, and avoiding any tourist traps.
When booking flights, I always compare platforms—Skyscanner, Google Flights, and Booking.com, since each partners with different airlines.
For our trip, we scored a round-trip from HNL to BKK for around $800. Meanwhile, our friends paid $2K for HNL to Italy (could’ve probably saved them $1K each, but alas)
What I’m listening to: Maria & I lived in Mexico during covid (July, 2020 - June 21), where we took Spanish lessons 3x weekly from a local tutor at the start of our trip. Those lessons really helped us feel comfortable speaking in day-to-day life.
This all-Spanish playlist speaks to my heart—hope you enjoy it!
